Sustainability at Mantra Ettalong

Here at Mantra Ettalong Beach, we are committed to furthering our sustainability journey as we learn more about how we can reduce our carbon footprint. Mantra Ettalong recognises that sustainability is an ongoing journey and we are continually striving to keep up to date with the eco-standards of Australia.

Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are excited to be a part of Accor’s global commitment to eliminate single use plastic throughout all hotels. This includes eliminating single use plastic from our guest rooms and back of house staff areas. It is a big step in our mission of furthering Mantra Ettalong in minimizing our environmental footprint. We are surrounded by beautiful national parks, waterways, nature and wildlife and we endeavour to continually support the community and surroundings in preserving the serene location we have.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations.

Sustainable Housekeeping

At Mantra Ettalong Beach, our rooms are non-serviced apartments, therefore linen is only changed in reservations 7 nights long. This creates a smaller laundry turnover which in turn creates less water usage on the hotel’s behalf. We have implemented bulk soap dispensers in all guest rooms which significantly minimises housekeeping plastic waste through the removal of single-use amenities. The most recent addition to our sustainability journey is using sustainable replacements for the plastic that still requires a solution. For example we are now using compostable liners for all of our bin liners throughout the hotel and we provide ecofriendly bamboo room keys to guests.

Recycling

At Mantra Ettalong we are implementing recycling throughout the hotel in the hope that all hotel waste is separated in both public areas and guest’s rooms. We hope to increase our recycling bin capacity ensuring that all cardboard, food waste and general waste are separated minimising our impact on landfill.  In addition, we have taken a number of steps to further reduce water and embrace a circular system.

  • Implementing recycling bins in guest rooms and public areas
  • Implementing a return and earn system with glass and can waste
  • Expanding our capacity of recycling bins and skips ensuring waste is separated correctly.

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible. The below are some of the communities or organisations that we support:

  • The Ettalong Digger’s RSL Club
  • The Cancer Council
  • Brisbane Water Private Hospital
  • Central Coast Council
  • Central Coast Taxis
  • Pure Bulk Wholefoods
  • The Exchange Café
  • The Box on the water
  • The Australian Reptile Park
  • Bombora Stand Up Paddle Board
  • Upstairs Wine

We are proud to be a Sustainable Tourism Certified hotel with Ecotourism Australia. This achievement reinforces our ongoing commitment to delivering sustainable hospitality and creating positive impacts for our team, guests, local community and planet.

Accessibility

At Mantra Ettalong beach, we aim to provide all our guests with accommodation that suits their needs. We currently have 2 dedicated wheelchair accessible rooms available for guests with these requirements. For guests that may not need a fully accessible room however would prefer not to have a spa bath beneath the shower, we do have some room categories with walk-in showers available. In designated accessible rooms we have bathrooms with shower chairs and rails available. All doorways in the rooms are wide enough to accommodate a motorised scooter.

We have 2 parking lots available to guests, one above ground parking lot that has sloped walkways up to the hotel’s door alongside designated disabled car spaces. Our underground car park has designated disabled car spaces that are located next to the accessible ramps. Guests are able to access the hotel's elevator that gives all guests easy access to the ground floor/reception.

Our lifts are all large enough to accommodate those with electric scooters, inside of our lifts the Mantra guests have access to braille for patrons that are visually impaired. Our pool deck is also fully accessible with fully accessible public toilets and shower available to those in need.

The staff at Mantra Ettalong are always available to assist with any specific needs or request to ensure all guests at the Mantra are comfortable and happy with their stay or holiday with us.
